I'M TEAH, AND I'M A

cartoonist.

LET'S MAKE SOMETHING

From Sunday funnies to anime, Ray Harryhausen to Ralph Bakshi, cartoons have always captivated me. There is a tension that emerges between emotional truth and unreal form – animation has the power to use that tension deliberately, expanding our capacity for empathy by inviting us to imagine new realities. This is what I love to explore.

After graduating with a degree in Film from Bard College in 2021, I spent the next few years casting a wide net across the creative landscape. I was a clown, a competitive dancer, a lighting specialist. I worked with TV psychics and immersive art exhibits. Eventually I made my way to New York City, where I found success as a full-time puppeteer.

Now based in Portland, Oregon, I use my eclectic background to create what really excites me: animated films. I am drawn to the physicality of stop-motion animation, and am working to build a career in fabrication. In May, I was awarded the Sam Koji Hale Scholarship for Puppet Filmmakers, which allowed me to make my directorial debut with a team of gifted artists.

I look forward to a collaborative future in this precise and playful craft.
